Anneke, Baby Portrait Artist

My name is Anneke Doeven. I was born and have lived in The Netherlands all of my life. I have been sculpting since I was 20 and now I am 49 years young. I began making portrait babies one year ago. I decided to specialize and to only sculpt babies, no toddlers, because I am more comfortable with baby proportions. 

Sculpting is a very important part of my life now. It was six years ago that I gave up my career as a nurse to become a full time artist. I will never regret my decision to become a full time artist. 

My only goal with my baby sculpting is perfection. I feel if I can perfect an image with a sculpt, everything else will reflect that beauty. 

My dolls are made from cernit, a beautiful polymer clay and will be approximately 19 to 20 inches. I use high quality glass eyes and mohair to complete my babies. The hair is rooted so the hair will be there forever. The babies clothes are not copied but I try to copy the style with quality outfits.

During our beginning discussions, we began to realize the extent of this specialized sculpting and her tremendous talent. Not only is Anneke a very gifted artist, she is a warm and caring person - she really cares about her work. 

Details of the Portrait Baby Commission

Anneke needs to know the color of the hair and the color of the eyes. Sometimes the color is not easy to see in a picture. She needs close-ups of the face, especially frontal close-ups. Additional pictures are welcome. 

Anneke needs to see and study the picture of your baby first. She will decide if she feels she can make your baby for you. When she accepts the customer order, she never guarantees an exact copy of the baby. 

If you are not satisfied with the sculpt, Anneke will not provide an alternative sculpt. If you decide not to complete your purchase, Anneke retains the baby and can do with it as she pleases. Also, Anneke reserves the right to use one of the original pictures of the real baby but will not expose the identity. 

Sculpting Options are 1) 1/4 arms and 1/4 legs, Price: $1,650.00, 2) 1/4 arms and 3/4 legs, Price: $1,750.00, and 3) 3/4 arms and 3/4 legs, Price: $1,850.00.

The non-refundable Commission Deposit is $500.00. Upon completion of the baby you may pay in full or choose an interest free layaway plan of up to 11 more payments.
